The retaining ring (top right) was missing. The original barrel (left) had a 27 threads per inch guage, difficult to cut with today's machine tools, so a new barrel was manufactured by my nephew, Tom Tillotson. The loose bearing race (bottom left) was also cracked so it was incorporated as an integral part of the new barrel piece.
