The second patent issued to Peter J. Scharbach in 1902. He now has a complete working model. Only a few changes were made in the early production model that is in our posession. Most noteably, that instead of three clutches, the model produced had two. Shifting between the lowest and medium required one lever that operated both clutches. Moving to the highest gear now required the rider to place one lever in neutral, and engage the third gear with a second lever. Click on drawings below to show the surviving part.
